Don't burn resources in aging up too fast. The last thing I recommend is to STAY in IA (or as it's called, CAMP) in IA. With each season, as you add your mil building levels, you'll see you're able to fight to higher attrition levels and this lets you last longer each day to do more battles and get more rewards. It also helps if your guild leaders know how to do alliances and build siege camps to help keep tile attrition down. Also, make sure your guild is fighting GBG in Diamond League to maximize your fp rewards at 10. But your military is key to increasing your fp production in GBG as you get higher boosts.
That's with a lot of event buildings over time that give A/D bonuses. I have been camping in IA for several months now and have ATT/Def boosts of 390/410.
Put down 3 or 4 ballista barracks and go from there. You get the rest of your troop complement from GE and GBG troop rewards.
Then build ballista barracks only for your military as you get stronger, shoot only from the backline and the Ballista will kill opposition before it can reach your backline as you get stronger. Then keep going on raising them some more. Get your 'trinity' to 10 each at a minimum.
